Must See Kentucky: Louisville Slugger Museum

Our family recently visited the Louisville Slugger Museum located on Museum Row in downtown Louisville. You can't miss it with its iconic, HUGE Louisville Slugger Bat right outside. We had visited the museum many years ago, but decided to have a visit with our youngest son, Elijah (who had never been), and our son, Bailey. We got super lucky that day! It was during the month of February and most of the museums had discounted admissions of $5 all month! What a steal! It was informative, entertaining, and we received a free mini bat at the conclusion of the factory tour! Score!
We began our visit with a 30 minute guided factory tour. We visited on a Saturday so while there was a small of amount of production happening, it wasn't quite as active as it would've been during the week. There are several stations throughout the factory where we would stop, listen to our guide provide information, and watch a short video regarding that particular step of bat creating. It was really neat to watch! We did get to see a gentleman that was doing wood burning of the logo into the wooden bats. We also got to watch as the different finishes and colors were added to the bats. Overall, it was really neat. I'm not a huge baseball fan and I loved it, so I can say it would be a great stop for just about anyone! At the end of the tour, we received our mini-bat...and since it was close to Valentines Day we had our choice of the standard mini-bat OR a Valentine edition! Of course, I chose the Valentine bat! 💓

Next up, we visited the museum portion of the visit. We were really impressed---everything from an authentic dugout, to Lego displays of popular ball parks around the country, to wax figures of famous baseball players, to an area where you can hold the actual bats used by different players! My husband got to hold an actual bat that was used by Babe Ruth! So cool!
All in all, it is a really great place to spend an afternoon. They suggest allow 2 hours for your visit. Factory tours last around 30 minutes and depart every 10-30 minutes depending on the season. They have an excellent website with tons of history. I highly suggest checking it out prior to your visit. Lots of details for your visit are available!
