Featured Neighborhood: Beaumont Area

 One of the things I absolutely LOVE about the Lexington and Fayette County area is the diversity of housing and neighborhood options that are scattered throughout our area. There is no right or wrong...no good or bad. It's all dependent on you and your family's needs and interest, as well as your
housing preferences. Lexington offers a plethora of housing options from 200 year old houses downtown to high end suburban homes on the outskirts of the city and all of the in-betweens. I see our area as a place that will fit most, if not all, tastes. This time, I will be presenting the Beaumont area of our lovely city. Our family lived in this area for many years so I have an affinity for the area, but I will attempt 😀to showcase it in an unbiased manner.

   The Beaumont area of Lexington is located just outside of New Circle Road off of Harrodsburg Road. Harrodsburg Road provides a direct and convenient route downtown and New Circle Road provides access around the city. Commuting to this area is convenient and fairly direct via these two options. Also, Man O' War is located close by and provides an easy thoroughfare from west towards Bluegrass Airport to the east just past the shopping mecca at Hamburg Pavilion. As far as location goes, Beaumont seems a bit remote and tucked away (which can certainly be preferred thing), but quick and easy access to major roads is an absolute top notch amenity for this area.

   With development dating back to the 1990's, Beaumont is still a relatively new area of our city. It offers a combination of  approximately 1,200 high end single family houses, townhouses, condos, and apartments right off of New Circle Road.  This area is a poster child of mixed use developments. Beaumont is home is many different facets of life...banks, a library, hotels, office buildings, doctors offices, small local restaurants and shops, and, in my opinion, THE best Kroger in town! (I still drive across town, passing numerous Krogers, to do my shopping at Beaumont Kroger) Lots of convenience right at your fingertips in Beaumont!

   Entertainment? Outdoor space? Exercise? Check, check, and check! Beaumont has an answer for all of those! Beaumont is home to a YMCA that offers outstanding fitness facilities and classes, as well as an extensive indoor pool area with two hot tubs. AND, the YMCA has a very nice zero depth entry outdoor pool for all of your summer swimming needs. Very close to the YMCA is an outdoor amphitheater known as MoonDance. It is home to numerous outdoor activities and concerts throughout the spring, summer, and fall months. It's a three season venue with lots of fun, family friendly events that happen right in the neighborhood! And, lastly, outdoor space...Beaumont has an amazing network of biking walking trails. All four of our children have learned to ride their bikes out on that trail! It is wooded, paved, and well-maintained. There is also a 20+ acre areas known as Beaumont Preserve that offers additional trails. Not to mention there are two different parks that are accessible via the trail...Fort Harrods Park and a smaller playground located at Cardinal Run Baseball Complex. Beaumont is a very active community that has its needs met very well right in their neighborhood.

   Lastly, let's take a look at the schools for this area. Beaumont's public school options are: Rosa Parks Elementary, Beaumont Middle School, and Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Rosa Park's is a consistently high performing elementary school that is always in high demand for families with young children. Dunbar High School is another highly sought after school with consistently high test scores. Obviously, this is icing on the cake of this southwest Lexington neighborhood!
