Just a Quick Hello & Introduction...

It's a gorgeous and frosty January morning in Central Kentucky. I am watching the sunrise on a beautiful Sunday morning as I type this quick 'hello'. My family and I are planning to venture outside today and enjoy this unseasonably warm day (it's suppose to be mid-50's later today!) and shake off the winter blah's that seem to always sneak in around this time of year. Being outside in nature seems to be a good remedy for that feeling of longing for warmer, sunnier days. So, we will take full advantage of these bonus, spring-like days that surprise us in the dull, gray of winter.
Anyone who knows me knows that I could talk for days about my husband and our four boys. They are the joy and pride of my life. But, when it comes to talking about myself, that is another story. So, this post is a bit of a stretch for me, but in order for us to go on this home ownership/real estate journey together, you need to get to know me a little and my heart behind starting this blog and my career as a real estate agent. So, here we go!
My name is Melissa Hall---wife to my superhero, rock star husband Chris for over 22 years, mother to 4 boys that have absolutely captured my heart (ages 21, 19, 17, and 10), dog mom to Bear (4 year old Great Pyrenees/Lab mix) and Mable (3 year old Pekingese), lover of travel and nature, and real estate agent for the past 5 years. I love to discover and experience new things...our family's newest obsession is National Parks. This past summer we took a dream vacation to the Rocky Mountains and my heart grew 10x for the beauty of the world around us. We are currently planning an extended vacation for the upcoming summer to Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Glacier National Parks. I cannot wait!
As a Mom, my role has shifted and changed over the years. When all 4 boys were younger and no one drove, I was very busy and very needed...as a chauffeur mainly, but just needed more all the way around. We now have two that are out of high school...one in college and one taking a gap year. One is a high school senior and has several upcoming auditions (both locally and out of state) for music performance programs on the viola. And, we have our "baby" who is 10 going on 18. He is fiercely independent and strong, but needs Mommy & Daddy alot too. So, while I'm still in demand, my role has definitely changed over the past few years. I'm embracing the change and learning to rediscover myself and how I will fill my days.
As a Realtor, the past 5 years have a been a roller coaster ride! Some of the highest of highs and lowest of lows have occurred in my career as a real estate agent. As my life has shifted and changed so has my career. The past couple of years I have taken my foot off of the proverbial pedal with my career and focused more on the high demands and needs of our family. And yes, financially speaking my career has taken a hit, but I'm ok with my choices. No regrets! It has been a true blessing to be able to make decisions that was in the best interest of our family. But, as our family dynamics are growing and changing, so has my focus. I'm excited and inspired to step back in to this crazy career full time and get back to the task that I was initially called to do nearly 6 years ago.
When I first entertained the thought of becoming a real estate agent, I felt so insecure and sure that I was on the wrong path. But, the thought remained and I couldn't escape it, so I went for it! Goodbye insecurity! I, in no way, fit the stereotypical real estate agent profile. By nature, I'm introverted and quite (at least until we get to know each other). I am intimated by large social gatherings. I am not great at selling myself (okay, maybe insecurity does rear it's ugly head). I don't have a huge social network. All of these things seem to indicate that I was right...I am on the wrong path. BUT, let me tell you who I am as Realtor and why I've actually achieved success in  helping people buy and sell  homes for the past 5 years. I genuinely care about people and I want to see them achieve their real estate dreams! I work tirelessly to help those that I'm entrusted with to succeed. I feel that if folks choose me out of all of the other options that are available that I will work my hardest to help them get where they want to  go. I try to stay focused on the people and not the paycheck. And some may say...well why do it if you're not going to make money? My philosophy is that if I treat people well and work hard for them, if I am honest and act with integrity, then the  money will flow out of those things. My favorite thing about this career is getting to meet people that I probably would never have gotten to know and to develop lasting relationships with them as result of the real estate.
So, that is a little snippet of me and my heart behind being a Realtor. In the past 5 years I have learned alot, but this industry is always changing and ever evolving. I work hard to stay educated and current on all things that are happening in our real estae world. I promise to work hard to help you achieve your dreams with enthusiasm, honesty, and kindness. I plan to use this blog to help you become an educated and empowered buyer or seller. I will provide information on financing, the housing market in our area, local information and events, profiles of various neighborhoods and counties around Central Kentucky, and so much more. I want you fall in love with our beautiful area (even if you already live here). I look forward to embarking on this journey with you! Have a great day!
